Week 9 Message from Coach Slamer!

The Holt Ram football teams swept the Jackson Vikings in dominant fashion this week. It was a solid performance at all three levels. The last week of the regular season sets up one of the great rivalries in Michigan as the Holt Rams play the Grand Ledge Comets. The JV/Freshman teams play at Grand Ledge and the Varsity plays at home. The last regular season game also will include SENIOR RECOGNITION NIGHT and the "Light Show". Both of these events add to the Friday Night atmosphere. Cancer Awareness Month will also be recognized as those family members who have been effected by the disease will be holding the Brown run through banner at the start of the game. Let's do all we can to help find the cure!

There will be a lot at stake on Friday as the Rams play for the conference championship and for a shot at the playoffs. Cheer loudly and positively for our young men as they finish this fine season on a championship note!

Again I would like to thank our parents involved with all their volunteer efforts! YOU HAVE DONE A FANTASTIC JOB of making Holt Ram football a very special experience.

And as always...IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A HOLT RAM!!!

Coach Slamer and the Holt Ram Coaching Staff

Week 4 Message from Coach Slamer!

As we approach the midpoint of our season, I hope that all of you have taken time to reflect on the events of 10 years ago that have forever effected our great country. We Americans are a resilient bunch and as all football players know, tough times don't last but tough people do. God Bless America!

Week 3 was a successful one for the Holt Rams as they swept the Lansing Eastern Quakers. At this point in the season, we have asked our teams to look again at their TEAM GOALS. A successful mid season run will be dependent on the teams working together on common goals. Achieving success requires having a solid plan and then executing that plan.

Week 4 sees the Holt Rams playing against Lansing Everett in a league contest. The Vikings run a wide open spread attack that is a real challenge to defend. The Varsity will be away and the Freshmen/Junior Varsity will play at home. We'll see you at the games this week and as always, IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A HOLT RAM!

Coach Slamer and the Holt Ram Football Staff

Week 3 Message from Coach Slamer!

School starts this week and League play begins as the Holt Rams play the Lansing Eastern Quakers AT HOME to open the CAAC Blue schedule.
Congratulations to the the Junior Varsity for their win last week against Rockford! The JV is 2-0 and has done a great job of finishing their games in both week one and two.

It has been a rough start for the Holt Ram Varsity but we are seeing improvement each week and as we move into league play EXECUTION and TEAMWORK will be critical to our success. Our team is committed to work on the little things that make a team successful! We will work hard, have fun and improve every day.

Special thanks to all the parents and supporters for supplying game day snacks and peanut butter and bread during the week. Your continued support is greatly appreciated! You supply that extra edge for the Holt Rams!

As always, IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A HOLT RAM!

A Message for All of Us ...

                                            GAME WEEK!

                                            A Message from Coach Slamer

The 2011 Football season is here!! Our teams have worked hard and have demonstrated a work ethic that will make the Holt faithful proud.

The Holt Rams begin their season versus Hudsonville. The Eaglets are an opponent with a great tradition from the tough OK Red conference in the Grand Rapids area. The Freshmen and Junior Varsity kickoff the season on Thursday night at Hudsonville and the varsity plays at 7:00 pm AT HOME on Friday night.

The opening of the football season is a special time of the year for Holt. It signals the beginning of a new year, the culmination of an off season that saw our young men learn many life lessons. The Holt Community comes back together after summer vacations to enjoy our version of "Friday Night Lights".

Football is a special game and the season is a special time. Enjoy the games, cheer loudly, positively and appreciate the efforts of our young men!

IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A HOLT RAM!!

                                            Week of August 15!

Week one of preseason practice finished with nearly 200 student athletes as a part of the Holt Ram Football program. Practice went well Monday through Friday and even though the Brown and Gold game on Saturday was a weather casualty, the Alumni Game went off and concluded after a weather delay. The Pig Roast was a huge success with Dean Fischer and Coach Mark Zajac manning the cooker all night. Thanks for all those who went above and beyond to put a very positive spin on a bad weather day!!! Our parents are the best, THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO TO MAKE HOLT RAM FOOTBALL GREAT!

Week two of the season begins and we have a very busy schedule indeed! Double sessions will continue on Monday and Tuesday with evening activities on both of these nights. Monday, we will host the Annual Gold Card Blitz to finish selling our Gold Cards. Players are to return to the Commons at 5 pm and will be put into their groups to offer the opportunity for all those in Holt to buy a Gold Card. We need as many parents as possible to help with rides and to help with the evening activities. The Blitz will conclude at 8 pm. All Gold Cards that are not sold should be brought to the Blitz Night so they can be sold!! Tuesday is the Annual "MEET THE RAMS NIGHT" beginning at 6 pm and concluding around 7:30. Bring cameras and your enthusiasm. This great event is always a wonderful way to kick off the season. All players and cheerleaders will be introduced. Wednesday is our scrimmage day at Howell and it promises to be a day of tough football as four of the top programs in Michigan will play against each other in this scrimmage format. The Varsity and Junior Varsity will play at 10 am and the freshmen will play at 1 pm. Thursday begins Game Week preparation for our first game against Hudsonville. The season is upon us...BEAT HUDSONVILLE!!

Town Hall Meeting - Thursday, March 17th

Holt Community Invited to Come Together for Town Hall Meeting on Underage Drinking

To combat the deadly, national problem of underage drinking, community members, parents, teachers, officials, and youth are invited to a Town Hall Meeting to raise awareness and foster dialogue about the impact underage drinking has on the community, the importance of curbing underage drinking and practicing safe driving, and to develop pro-active solutions to address this issue in the community.

The prevention of underage drinking is vital because of its extremely harmful consequences. Alcohol is a major factor in motor vehicle crashes, homicides, and unintentional injuries, which are some of the leading causes of death among youth.
